Dylan Furnell

Director and Principal Planner

Dylan has 8 years of experience working within the planning and development sector, with 5 years of this time within local government planning departments in both metro and regional settings. This has provided extensive experience in assessment and management of applications in residential, industrial, rural and commercial development sectors. Dylan’s blend of private and public sector experience provides a unique perspective and understanding of the South Australian planning system.

Graduating from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (Honours), Dylan has continued to develop professionally through a number of short courses in development assessment and sustainability. Dylan has a passion for achieving great planning outcomes in all scenarios, and his experience in a variety of settings has left him with a uniquely broad skillset.

Dylan is a Registered Planner with the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA), demonstrating an unwavering commitment to professional development within the planning sector. He is also accredited as a Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 Professional under the Plan SA Accredited Professionals Scheme. This allows him to act as Assessment Manager for local Councils and issue planning consent as a private certifier of ‘deemed-to-satisfy’ planning applications. This fast-track process can significantly speed up and simplify planning applications, and most importantly avoids Council planning assessments.

Through work in both the public and private sectors, Dylan has an established relationship with planners in all metro Adelaide Councils. He has also built a relationship with many officers in the offices of referral agencies such as DIT and SA Water among many others. Dylan has also built a large contact base of allied professionals such as architects and building designers, civil engineers, environmental scientists, arboriculturists and surveying professionals among many more.

Outside of work Dylan is an avid sportsman. There is a good chance you will see him shooting hoops at one of the local basketball courts or jogging along the esplanade at Brighton or Henley Beach. Being Barossa born and bred, a bold Shiraz is always a winning choice on a Friday night.
